Costa Rica is a beautiful country, full of friendly people with a population of about 4.9 million, the official language is Spanish. Costa Rica is well known for producing good coffee, to the point that some will say that Juan Valdez gets there his coffee! This country is located in Central America; border of Nicaragua to the north and Panama to the south. Catholicism is the predominant religion; according to Wikipedia about 76% of the Costa Rican population is Catholic. This beautiful country is in need of the truth.
Thus, thanks to the Lord and to the generosity of our donors, the Sunset International Bible Institute has sent to Costa Rica solar players to equip leaders within the Lord’s Church to teach the truth of the Gospel. These solar players since contain the entire bible in audio, many bible courses, and spiritual songs have become a great tool for the Costa Rican Christians. They use it for spiritual growth, evangelism, training leaders, etc. We are so grateful for what the Lord is doing with these efforts.
We encourage you to pray for the Costa Ricans and for the work that the Lord’s Church is currently doing down there. As the Lord said in Matthew 9:37, 38 “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”
The person on the calendar is our brother Luis Melendez; for seven years he was a full time missionary in Costa Rica and he planted a church in the city of Palmares, in which there was no Church of Christ. He recently became a member of our staff, working with the international department.
