Ms. Bobbie left this world to be with her Lord and with Gerald on April 30th, 2020. Because of the Covid-19 travel restrictions her memorial service was delayed. Truitt Adair & Tim Burow, along with Ms. Bobbie’s children, will lead the live stream service from the Sunset Church of Christ Flagroom, which was very significant in the life and ministry of both Gerald and Ms. Bobbie. In person attendance will be “family only” due to current Covid restrictions. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Ms. Bobbie’s memory to Sunset International Bible Institute.
Since her beloved Gerald went to be with the Lord in 2015, there has been one thing on Mrs. Bobbie’s heart--a queen’s request if you will--and that was to join him. Like Paul, her thoughts were For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain. But if I live on in the flesh, this will mean fruit from my labor; yet what I shall choose I cannot tell. For I am hard-pressed between the two, having a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better. (Philippians 1:21–23) In her mind, there were things left “unfinished.” There were things she knew she couldn’t do anymore without help, and she never gave up that famous saying, “I have a little project for you!” It didn’t matter who you were or what you were doing at the time, if you heard that soft, sweet voice behind you, you knew you were in for a “not so little” project. But those projects were done with love and honor for the sister we called Ms. Bobbie. Bobbie’s request to be with her Lord and her Gerald was answered on April 30, 2020. She was surrounded by the family she loved more than life (she was so proud of her family), and even though I wasn’t there, I feel certain when she saw the heavens open and heard her name called by her Lord, that smile (with lipstick) was on her face. We can only imagine. Ms. Bobbie wouldn’t want a long tribute about her written in this issue of Lifeline. I think she would have wanted pictures. She loved pictures. She had thousands of pictures of her family and the SSOP/SIBI family. While you look at the “tribute in pictures” below, let your memories of “Sunset’s Queen” fill your heart, not with sadness, but with the smile that she always wanted to see on your face.
